My photography reflects both my passion for adventure and my penchant for attention to detail. Although my favorite subjects are typically found in nature, I am equally comfortable shooting in urban environments. Regardless of the theme, each image I choose to share embodies the technical skills I have acquired during a 45-year love affair with the camera, my unique view of the world, and my dedication to "getting it right."
As an avid nature enthusiast, traveler and outdoorsman, my exploits have brought me to many truly beautiful settings. Never satisfied to use my camera to simply record an event, I particularly enjoy applying my unique vision to commonplace subjects, always striving to create alluringly evocative images. Snapping the shutter is but a first step in a thoughtful and detailed process in which, by utilizing my compositional and image refining skills, I transform electronic bits and pixels into art that embodies the essence of the image’s character.
All of my 11x17 and larger limited edition giclee prints are produced on an Epson 9900 large format printer using the latest archival Ultrachrome HDR inks which are fade resistant for up to 200 years and the widest color gamut currently available, on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308 matte finish paper. Smaller open edition photo prints are produced Noritsu or Chromira printers, using Fuji Crystal Archive or Kodak Royal N matte finish silver halide papers.
Giclée prints are hinge-mounted onto acid-free foam core backing boards using archival water activated hinging tape, and are matted with 8 ply archival acid- and lignum-free mat board. Photo prints are attached to acid-free foam core backing using acid-free self-adhesive tape and matted with archival 4 ply acid and lignum-free mat board.
